Jammu, Feb 4: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the premises of a military hospital here, official sources said on Monday.

Signalman Balbir Singh of 80th Brigade Signal Company was found hanging from a tree in the hospital campus at Satwari area of the city on Sunday night, they said.

Singh, who was suffering from depression due to family dispute over property, hanged himself with a bed sheet, they said, adding that he committed suicide.

Suffering from acute depression, Singh, who hailed from Gandhi Nagar area of the city, was admitted in Satwari military hospital on January 9, they said.

A court of inquiry has been ordered into the case.
