The rest of 381 liquor shops in Madhya Pradesh would be disposed of through tenders. Excise Commissioner T Dharmarao informed that 3001 liquor shops have been disposed off. Thus 90 per cent shops were disposed of in the first phase. Revenue to the tune of 17 to 18 per cent has been increased due to present excise policy.
Out of 3382 disposable liquor shops under renewal policy for the year 2008-09, 3001 shops have been disposed of which is 90 per cent. The rest 10 per cent shops would be disposed of through tenders on February 15, 2008. Tenders for the same have been invited between February 1, to 15.
Through renewal policy, shops worth Rs 1365 crore have been disposed of for the year 2008-09 at 20 per cent revenue increase rate against the target of Rs 1639 crore. The revenue realised so far is 83 per cent of the revenue target.
It may be mentioned that under the existing excise policy, there has been 17 to 18 per cent increases per annum in the revenue through disposal of liquor shops during the last four years.
Country-made liquor and foreign liquor shops in 24 districts have been disposed of with 20 per cent increase in revenue. These districts include Guna, Ashok Nagar, Sheopur, Dhar, Jhabua, Khargone, Badwani, Burhanpur, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Hoshangabad, Harda, Betul, Katni, Dindori, Seoni, Balaghat, Neemuch, Ratlam, Shajapur, Sagar, Shahdol, Anup Pur and Umaria. In rest of the 24 districts 307 country-made liquor and 74 foreign liquor shops would be disposed of through tenders on February 15.
The division-wise break-up of revenue collection against the target includes 95 per cent in Ujjain division, 88 per cent each in Bhopal and Sagar divisions, 81 per cent in Rewa division, 75 per cent in Jabalpur division and 68 per cent in Gwalior division.
