Bhopal, Feb 4:
The Municipal Corporation Bhopal had purchased vehicles from loan received from Asian Development Bank for urban water supply and for the schemes of environmental reform under project Uday. Now the vehicles are out of order withing six months of purchasing. A small JCB machine, which was imported from England, is now biting dust as it has become 'dead'.
The Municipal Corporation had taken loan from ADB for urban water supply and environmental reform worth Rs 174 crore. Under this loan there was provision of purchasing vehicles including basic developmental work.
Under this project Uday at around Rs 11 crore were spent on purchasing technical vehicles. But there was no arrangement for service and repairs of these vehicles.
Project Uday did not hand over documents to the corporation about guarantee and warranty of these vehicles. As a result these vehicles are not being repaired.
Four months ago, Project Uday had handed over two small JCB machines. Engine of one JCB machine had broke down and its wheels were also damaged and this vehicle is standing in scrap.
Project Uday had also handed over containers for collection garbage to the municipal corporation four months ago. Most of the containers' wheels and hooks are breaking now. Some of them have been repaired for use while at several places broken and damaged containers are placed. These damaged containers and not usable as their hooks are broken and garbage remains at the same places.
Each JCB machine costs 40 thousand pounds with accessories (at around Rs 32 lakh) Municipal Corporation had received a sewage cleaning machine 6 months ago which has also been grounded as its jet pump is out of order.
