Heavy snowfall in Shimla

Agencies

Shimla, Feb 3: The heaviest snowfall of the season here and in the higher tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday paralysed normal life. The tribal areas are experiencing snowfall since midnight while the state capital and its adjoining areas are having continuous snowfall since the wee hours. Shimla has so far recorded 12 cm of snow while Kufri and Narkanda, the famous tourist resorts, have received about two feet snow.

The transport services in Himachal have come to a grinding halt as state government buses stranded in many places due to heavy snowfall. A report from Dharamsala said heavy snowfall was witnessed in Dhauladhar ranges and its surrounding areas of Kangra district while intermittent rains took place in the lower areas, creating a cold wave in the valley.
