Sagar, Feb 3: The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh today launched an indefinite sit-in to pressurise the Centre to grant Rs 24,000 crore in view of severe drought condition in Bundelkhand and other regions in the state.

Several party leaders led by state BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar submitted a memorandum in the name of Prime Minister to the Divisional Commissioner.

The memorandum stated that the government had started relief measures at its level but the help of the Centre was required for better work.

On the occasion, Tomar charged the Centre and the Congress of obstructing development. State Agriculture Minister Gopal Bhargava and Industries Minister Jayant Malaiya said the party was adamant on a special package and would continue agitation in this regard.

Sagar division's MPs Virendra Khateek, Ramkrishna Kusumaria and Chandrabhan Singh, state party general secretary Bhupendra Singh and district president Shailendra Jain also addressed the meeting. Tomar, party legislators and office bearers took part in the indefinite sit-in.
