The construction cost of the Corporation is quite less than the institutions engaged in construction work in the State. From January 2007 to 2008, it has completed record construction works to the tune of Rs 50 crore including 816 residences and 184 government buildings. Besides, construction work of 3000 houses and 175 government buildings is under progress.
The corporation was established in the year 1981 under Company Act. Since then till now maximum number of construction works were done in the year 2007. After the establishment of the Corporation, it had constructed 14260 houses and 450 government and other buildings. It was revived in 2004 and since then there has been a constant increase in the construction works undertaken by it. Works to the tune of Rs 18 crore in 2005, Rs 30 crore in 2006 and Rs 50 crore in 2007 were completed by the corporation and a target of completing Rs 60 crore works has been fixed for the current year 2007-08.
Apart from rise in the number of construction works, the profit of the Corporation is also rising gradually. The corporation earned profit to the tune of Rs 1 crore in 2004-05, Rs 4.73 crore in 2005-06 and Rs 9.65 crore in 2006-07. The corporation expects to earn Rs 15 crore profit during the current year 2007-08.
The Corporation is also doing the work of drawing/design upgrading of the buildings being constructed by it. The corporation is constructing the building of Habibganj police station at Bhopal on the pattern of a metro police station while it has worked out the plant to construct TT Nagar police station also. The corporation is undertaking construction works with a fast pace in naxal-affected Balaghat and dacoit-infested Gwalior regions.
It is also trying to get maximum funds from Centre-sponsored plans as well as from State Planning Commission every year. This would ensure construction of better residential places for police personnel and police station buildings, which would result in maximum police personnel in both urban and remote areas at the time of emergency.
