Saurav, Garima win doubles title

Bhopal, Jan 13: The second seeded and number 5 junior ranking player Saurav Verma defeated his colleague first seeded Abhimanyu Singh in a excellent competition by 21-12, 16-21 and 21-16 and secured state winner position in Madhya Pradesh Badminton Championship-2008. While in the women championship, Garima Yadav defeated her own elder sister Saloni Yadav in direct sets by 21-16, 21-16. In the man double championship, Saurav defeated experienced player Kunal Makwana along with Nimish and Pratik and bagged double awards.

In the women double championship, Garima and Saloni Yadav bagged the double championship award. The championship was organised under the joint aegis of Sports Authority of BHEL, Bhopal in association with Bhopal District Badminton Association at JP Narayan BHEL Sports premises. The prizes were distributed among the successful participants by the Chief Executive Officer of Rural Road Development Authority Shailendra Singh and Vijay Joshi, General Manager, BHEL, Bhopal presided over the programme.

On the occasion, secretary of Bhopal District Badminton Association Anil Chaughule, President of Bhopal District Badminton Association BK Shikari, TR Guliyani, Gurumukh Singh, Brajesh Dutta Gaur was also present as special guest. The dignitaries were welcomed by RK Shrivastava, Manager of Sports Authority of BHEL, Bhopal, Jay Singh, Jesi Sharma, Ratnesh Guru, Jayram Thakur, Deepak Shrivastava, etc.

Mohan Chauhan, Vivek Tatwawadi, Manoj Gayakward, Basant Banchhor, Lakhvir Singh Gil, Suresh Kashiv, Sandeep Vishnoi, Kulwant Singh Puri and large number of sports lovers were present. The programme was conducted by Prasad Arya and Jesi Sharma expressed gratitude to all for the programme concluded successfully.
