Shahid, Chaurasia, Pankuj enter next round

Bhopal, Jan 13: Mayor Trophy Chess and Carrom is being organised under the aegis of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) at Acharya Narendra Dev Library, Kamla Park. International Chess player Shahid Azmat, Professor BK Chaurasia, Pankaj Gupta won the fourth round match and entered in next round. While in the Carrom Championship, former winner Akbar Khan, Ganesh Batham and Siraj Uddin won third round match and entered in next round.

Shajid Azmat defeated his competitor Amir Khan, Professor BK Chaurasia defeated his competitor Avinash Batham, Pankaj Gupta defeated Kalim Uddin, Afaque Khan defeated Anwar Azam, Shahabuddin defeated Nasir Khan and Alim Bakhsh defeated Ragunandan Rohit and they bagged 4-4 points. While Mukesh Saxena of Bhopal Development Authority (BDA) bagged 3.5 points. Kapil Saxena, Suraj Chaudhari, BS Asthana, Jamal Akhtar and Rizwan Ansari bagged 3-3 points each.

In the Carrom Championship, the senior player Siraz Ahmed defeated Asif by 25-1, 25-17, while former champion of BMC Akbar Khan defeated Mohammad Atique by 25-0, 25-6, Sanjay Thakur defeated Chand Khan, Kamlesh Raikwar defeated Zube Khan, Shahid defeated Mehmud, Sruendra Prajapati defeated Anis, Dilip Batham defeated Badshah Khan, Mohammad Anis defeated Suheluddin, Mohammad Rais defeated Kamar and entered in next round.

Swadesh beats Afkar in Inter-Press Cricket

Inter Press Cricket Tournament is being organised at Old Campion Ground, Arera Colony. Swadesh scored 198 runs in selected 20 overs to loss 3 wickets and defeated Afkar Jansampark by 61 runs. Prabhat Shukla of Swadesh scored 100 runs and bagged 2 wickets. He was selected as the SBI Man of the Match for his excellent performance. In the replay, Afkar Jansampark scored 137 runs in 15.4 over and they were all out. The Director of Bal Bhawan School Umar Ali was the chief guest Mumtaz Ali of Madhya Pradesh Athletic Association distributed prize of SBI Man of the Match to Prabhat Shukla.
