Both parties' prestige at stake

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, Jan 13: With assembly elections scheduled to take place in November this year, Betul Lok Sabha constituency by poll has turned out to be a prestigious event for both ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and main opposition party Congress.

Though election commission is yet to declare dates of by-election, but the political parties have chalked out strategies to take up the challenge.

Under no circumstances, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and State BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar would like to bear up fifth consecutive defeat that begun from Shivpuri by poll. In the recently concluded Sanchi Manthan both were under attack by senior party leaders.

Betul Lok Sabha constituency encompasses eight assembly segments of which BJP has five. The three assembly segments - Multai, Amla and Masod are with Samajwadi Party and Congress.

Thus in view of the by-poll, BJP has entrusted the task to eight cabinet ministers for all the eight assembly segments to campaign, camp and give pace to developmental work in the segments before the election.

The party has appointed Rameshwar Sharma, state BJP secretary its in-charge.

Thus, even before the declaration of party's candidate, Bharatiya Janata Party has geared up and deployed up to booth level workers to take up the battle.

According to the party, our aim is to reach each booth and booth level workers before the election is held. And for this, meeting of party workers up to Mandal levels are being organised, informed party sources to Central Chronicle.

Upbeat with four consecutive by-poll wins, Congress has appointed observers in all the eight assembly segments. At present the party is taking feedback from the observers about the popular face who can lead Congress to victory.

However, Samajwadi Party has decided to field Dr Sunilam who is sitting MLA from Multai, while Janata Dal (United) has named Uma Shankar Singh to be party's candidate.
