Voters in Taiwan went to the polls on Saturday to choose a new parliament, with analysts predicting a win for the opposition nationalists over the party of independence-leaning President Chen Shui-bian.
 
Bush to meet top Iraq aides in Kuwait 

Kuwait City, Jan 12:
US President George W. Bush was to meet on Saturday in Kuwait with his top political and military commanders in Iraq, a day after conceding that US troops “could easily” stay in Iraq for a decade.
 
Musharraf rejects UN inquiry on Bhutto 

Islamabad, Jan 12:
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf ruled out a U.N. inquiry into the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, as demanded by her party, saying that Pakistan should not be compared to Lebanon.
 
US not welcome to fight against Al Qaeda 

Islamabad, Jan 13:
President Pervez Musharraf said US troops are not welcome to join the fight against Al Qaeda on Pakistani soil, despite the growing threat from Islamic extremists.
