Bhopal, Jan 12:
While discussing the art, Aristotle said that the art created with minimum means is the ideal one. In that same view it is only painter who depicts animals, human beings and plant kingdom on the small canvas with the help of paint and brush. The painter creates a new world full of emotions, feelings and colours on the small canvas.
To encourage and boost the morale of such artists Alliance Francaise de Bhopal organised an exhibition of paintings by Sangeeta Pathak at Alliance Francaise Gallery. Almost all her paintings have been displayed.
'I am interested in the figurative art', said Ms Sangeeta. She added that 'my paintings deal with the human facial expressions, complex emotions, deep feelings, varied and puzzling human behaviour under different situations and circumstances'.
Sangeeta completed her Bachelor's Degree in Painting from Jamia Millia Islamia. Then she went to Shanti Niketan for her post graduation studies. She passed out from with the great dreams in her eyes to touch the sky. But unfortunately she faced a common set back in her career like all other Indian women after the marriage. But the uncommon thing is that she did not give up easily. She decided to fight on all fronts at the same time: being as housewife, as working woman and as an artist. At present Ms Sangeeta Pathak is working at Bharat Bhawan in graphics workshop.
With the minute study one can learn that all these painting are kept in chronological order as the painting starts from the daydreaming youth to nostalgic old man in sequence. While speaking on her painting dubbed as 'daydreaming' she said that daydreaming tendency is rapidly increasing among the youth. They count everything in terms of money and when the things go wrong gave up easily. Same thing I have portrayed in my paintings. Pointing towards one portrait she said that my friend named it as The Rest. In this painting she visualised an old man sitting on the steps at midnight besides the ants at 10:40 pm in nostalgia about his youth. He spent his whole life running after the materialist needs like the ant as it is believed that ant never sleep whole life till their death.
While speaking about her planning she said that she is going to exhibit her paintings at the world famous Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai in September 2008 at which she registered in 2003 after five years waiting. It is clear indication of India's renaissance of Indian painting.
