Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was called upon by a delegation of Panna district's Pawai Vidhan Sabha constituency under the leadership of Member of Assembly Brajendra Pratap Singh at the Chief Minister's official residence. The delegation apprised the Chief Minister about the problems being faced by the farmers of Pawai area. The delegation urged the Chief Minister to provide necessary relief to farmers in view of crop loss due to scanty rainfall during the last three years and excessive rains in 88 villages. A plea was also made to upgrade Raipura sub-tehsil to tehsil since villagers face difficulty of covering long distance to visit tehsil headquarter at Shahnagar.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has taken necessary decisions for giving assistance to crisis-hit farmers. The government would continue giving relief to farmers. Panna district has been declared as drought-affected. Soon additional steps other than the provision would also be taken. Chouhan said that the decision to convert Raipura sub-tehsil into tehsil would be taken after necessary inspection. The delegation comprised Mahendra Singh, Ramcharan Chaube, Chhatrapal Singh, Narain Patel and members of Kisan Sangh.
