Mayor Sunil Sood inspected various infrastructure development works being carried out in the city under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and construction of drinking water overhead tanks in gas-affected localities. He also visited ward number 66 and instructed the accompanying staff to ensure sanitation and arrange basic amenities near Masjid Aal-e-Mohammed (Shia) in view of Moharram.
During his visit to the gas-hit areas in Karond, the Mayor issued instructions to the officials to complete the work of overhead tanks at the earliest and repair of drains.
In Shiv Nagar of the same ward, Sood inspected works to the tune of Rs 1.75 crore being undertaken under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. He instructed the site-boards informing about nature and name of the work should be put up wherever construction work is going on. Sood ordered that the drinking pipelines should be laid keeping in view height from the ground so that water flows through them with adequate pressure. Sewage line should be beneath the drinking water pipeline to avoid seepage of filthy water into the drinking water pipeline.
During the inspection of Zia Colony, the Mayor instructed the officials to prepare a proposal of a road from Berasia Road to Nawab Colony and put up the same before him for approval. Sood also inspected progress of development works in Shabri Nagar.
Those who accompanied Sood during the visit included District Congress (Rural) president Avnish Bhargava, former president of District Panchayat Chetan Patidar, City Engineer (Project) Ashok Khare, Executive Engineer Saluja, Sibten Rizwi, MA Jafri, Qamaruddin Daudi and other distinguished citizens.
