Watch Tower: Reflections on the history of world

"Reflections on the History of World in Twentieth Century" written by Prakash K.Nigam is unique, as it reveals many truths of history, destroying current beliefs of common men. It was written by the author after 25 years of intensive research and study of 600 books and even more magazines together with worldwide travel.

The author has argued that man rules the world even though he is not the strongest animal in the world, because of his brain's development. Unlike other animals, man kills his own kind and even enjoys it. A tiger does not kill a tiger, a camel does not kill camels, a dog does not kill dogs. This means strongest enemy of man is man himself. Men have always fought wars. With the advancement of civilization, weapons of war became more deadly - bamboo stick, bow and arrow, sword, gunpowder and now nuclear bomb. This has put a question mark on human civilization itself. A nuclear war can destroy human civilization. Hence it is of utmost importance to prevent suicide of human race and to prevent wars permanently. According to Nigam this is not an easy task, if not almost impossible. Men do not seem to realize it.

Deep study of world history shows that men fought for their self-interest, nations fought to protect their nation's self interest. But self-interest cannot be given up, as it is part of human nature. Hence to eliminate wars, self-interest of individuals and of nations should be harmonized. The social, economic and political institutions have to be developed for harmonious living based on present reality. This will need spending money and time of most intelligent men on a grand scale. Strangely, vast amounts of money and skill of most intelligent men is being used to develop newer and more dangerous weapons of war, even though peace and creation is more important than war and destruction. The first step is to make all men aware of the probability of suicide of human race and true objective history. Hence this book will be read for a long time and all over the world.

This book makes many revelations, which are not known to common men and will destroy common beliefs, as history is treated from different point of view, as will become obvious later on. The partition and independence of India has been written often, but Nigam's description is unique in as much as it based on geo-politics and power on Mao's dictum that political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The common belief is that Atlee and Labor Party were very good and wanted to give India freedom and keep it united; and the partition was due to quarrels among Indian leaders. This is absolutely wrong. There was not much difference between Conservatives and Labor. After WW II, Britain became very weak economically and militarily. British Empire's lifeline was broken. They had no power left to continue their raj in old way. Hence they decided to partition India to be able to control "life and progress" of Indians. Partition and independence were due to balance of power between England and Indian nationalism on land and sea. The Indian army was much stronger than the British troops in India, but the British navy still had power to blockade India denying Indians oil, food and weapons. The author asserts that Indians must learn their true history of our independence and partition, so that they will not be ruled or dominated by others. Atlee, Churchill, Cripps, Wavell and Mountbatten are guilty of massacre of more than one million men and mass migration of 13 million people during 1947-48. The British are now trying to write history to hide their guilt of massacre of more than a million men and one of the biggest migration which took place during 1947-48. Even some Indians are trying to promote distorted history.

Nigam has shown that Pakistan's Islamic bomb is a hoax created by the U.S. and Pakistan in 1979 to stop India from becoming a nuclear weapons power. Their plan was to show Qadar Khan of Pakistan had made atom bomb and was soon going to explode it, due to rivalry with India's atom bomb test in 1974. Hence the U.S. - good Samaritan he is supposed to be - has to ensure that both India and Pakistan do not have them and start a nuclear war. Nigam has proved to be right. From 2000, the U.S. took custody of Pakistan's top nuclear scientists and FBI put them under intensive questioning for months. They were ultimately released, as it was found that they did not know how to make a bomb. The U.S. verdict was that Qadar Khan was a metallurgist and incapable of distinguishing a mock-up from a real atom bomb. He is no more called father of Pakistan's Islamic bomb. Nigam's contention is that the bomb exploded in Pakistan in 1998 was given by the U.S. to deceive the world. In 2000, Chinese made 300 Mw nuclear power plant started operation in Chashma, Pakistan. It was found that Low enriched Uranium fuel for the plant was supplied by China under next three-year contract. If Pakistan could not enrich uranium for reactor grade for Chashma, how can it enrich it to bomb grade in KRL, a laboratory of Qadar Khan. KRL cannot enrich uranium for either power plants or for bombs. This process requires a production plant. Pakistan has no uranium enrichment production plant. Both Pakistan and India exchange list of nuclear installations in their own countries every year. Hence there is no secret about production plant for uranium enrichment.

Nigam has shown that the U.S. practice is to decide first to go to war against an adversary and then maneuver to make it fire the first shot to convince ordinary American (who is peace loving) that they have to fight against an invader. This was the case with Pearl Harbor, Madox, Maine. Even Lusitania was an auxiliary of British navy, armed with guns and carried contraband munitions. Germany was justified in sinking Lusitania, but the U.S. used it for justifying declaration of war against Germany.

This book gives a history of the U.S., which is useful to Indians who do not know much about American history. After WW II, atom bomb appeared and influenced world history and diplomacy. Nigam has written about the development of atom bomb and how it has been used in international diplomacy for the benefit of those who do not have much knowledge of this subject.

On the negative side, the book does not have index, which is very useful. Also, the book does not have maps, which are very useful in following wars, disputes over boundaries and changes resulting from wars.

The book is priced at Rs 399 vol-Vol 2- Rs 499
