Ensure safe drinking water: Civic bodies role vital

Food and water is primary need for everyone. Without food one can survive, but without water it is impossible to live. Patients of colitis, hepatitis B and other stomach diseases have been increasing in the state capital due to polluted water. Expert doctors believe that due to the presence of amoeba and bacteria in stomach the people are suffering from these diseases. Patients of throat infection and viral fever have also increased due to polluted water. The government does not seem serious about this priority of public. The water experts had earlier drawn the attention of the government towards pollution of water sources in the capital. Though the water being supplied is polluted, 70pc of the ground water is also polluted as revealed in a report recently. Condition in other cities and villages of the state is the same. According to experts people suffer from ulcer due to the presence of amoebae and bacteria in stomach. Moreover, these bacteria attack brain too. In several towns and in remote areas water supply is irregular. As it is not possible to remain thirsty people use whatever water is available. It is the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation and the local bodies that they provide safe drinking water. It is important that water sources and supply sources are investigated regularly. The government should also think about taking responsibility to provide safe drinking water. Tendency of drinking boiled water should be developed among the people. People should also take necessary precautions at their own level and save themselves from diseases.
