Golden Jubilee Convention of NASA 2007 ends

Bhopal, Dec 31: The four-day grand gala Golden Jubilee Convention of NASA 2007 came to an end on Monday. In the convention's lectures workshops and seminars, re-known subject experts from different parts of the county and SAARC nations delivered their lectures.

Besides, budding architects were made aware of current issues and forthcoming challenges in various sessions. Some of the brain storming that were held in the four-day convention was earthquake resistant designs, low cost housing and idea of energy efficiency in buildings.

Apart from the technical sessions there were lectures on built form and gender, culture and design. One of the most interested subjects that caught everyone's attention was making spaces through performers body. The subject unfurled another angle of looking at the habitat present around us and being offered to anyone.

With all zeal, student's participated in the spot events and expressed best of their creativity which got reflected in the form of models. Their talent and creativity got reflected in the various theme events and on the spot competitions.

About 55 colleges participated in one special trophy HABITUS that is meant to solve the problems of urban poor.

For this the students had surveyed the "Pampapur" and worked out the design solutions to improve the quality of life of this slum.

Similarly other trophies were concerned with the multifaceted issues of architecture and habitat.

The valedictory function of the four-day gala event NASA 07 was attended by Minister for Public Relations and Mining Dr Laxmikant Sharma. On the occasion, Professor P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogik Vishwavidhyalaya, Dr Sudhir Sharma Dean SA RGPV were the guest of honor.

The function was presided by Dr K S Pandey Director MANIT.

During the convention eminent personalities from the field of Architecture including the experts from SAARC nations addressed the students. Architect Vijay Soni President of Council of Architecture, Architect Gurunath Dalvi President of Indian Institute of Architects, Architect Balbir Verma Vice President IIA and Architect Alok Ranjan General Secretary IIA.

The event was organized by the students of Department of Architecture and Planning MANIT under the guidance of Dr Ashutosh Sharma, Chief advisor NASA.

If day was busy with hectic schedule of academics, evenings had its own charisma, where cultural events full of life rocked students, subject experts and faculty members.

Bands like Aryans, Prestorika, Vayu and Bhajans in rock style by Shri Vikram Hajra performed. Students not only enjoyed but also participated in cultural in choreography and ramp show.
