Tendulkar at 8th in ICC ODI rankings

Dubai, Dec 11: Sachin Tendulkar is the highest ranked Indian at the eighth spot in the one-day batsman's list of the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings released on Tuesday.

Tendulkar is tied eighth with South African Herschelle Gibbs having 736 points. Australian captain Ricky Ponting is still the No.1 batsman with 788 points and is followed by his fellow teammates Andrew Symonds (765) and Matthew Hayden (755) in the second and third place respectively.

Another Indian, Yuvraj Singh, moved up one place to the 11th spot with 715 points and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (688) is at 17th.

Among the bowlers, South African Shaun Pollock is still at the top of the list with 863 points. New Zealand tearaway Shane Bond (778) is second, followed by Australian Nathan Bracken (757) at the third place.

West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor has broken into the top 10 of the rankings for the first time in his career following an exceptional performance in Zimbabwe.

Taylor took 11 wickets in four ODIs at an average of 13.72 and was the standout bowler for the West Indies team in a five-match series, which it won 3-1 against Zimbabwe.

Taylor jumped up 13 places and is ranked 10th with 665 points.
