Reliance Communications wins award

Mumbai, Dec 11: Anil Ambani group company Reliance Communications has been adjudged the world's top CDMA operator at the Global CDMA Industry Achievement Awards.

The company has won the award under the 'Operator Leadership' category for having demonstrated leadership in the wireless community through the expansion of 3G CDMA system deployments and the unique implementation of 3G CDMA technologies in a specific market, a release issued by the company here on Tuesday stated.

An official communique from the CDMA Development Group (CDG) said: "Reliance Communications is the fastest-growing CDMA operator in the Asia-Pacific region that has deployed one of the largest all-IP networks in the world to serve more than 25 per cent of India's mobile market share."

"Reliance is a leader in network coverage, overall call quality and customer service in India," it added.

CDG announced the recipients of the 2007 3G CDMA Industry Achievements Awards, at a reception jointly hosted by the CDG and the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) in Hong Kong on December 4.

Reliance Communications' Head (Branding & Marketing) Sanjay Behl said "we are pleased to receive this honour from such a reputed body... Reliance has always been innovating with its service offerings to enhance customer experience and this award motivates us further to explore new and innovative ways of implementing wireless technologies."
