Lalu no to remove Raghuvansh Prasad

Agencies

New Delhi, Dec 11: RJD chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today dismissed the Opposition NDA's demand to remove Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh following the allegations of forced child labour by his brother.

"Why should he (Singh) resign? The demand for his resignation is wrong," Prasad said on the sidelines of a function here.

NDA demanded Singh's resignation after a TV channel reportedly showed that two young boys were being used as oxen to plough the land of his brother Raghuraj in Bihar's Vaishali district.

The incident involving senior RJD leader rocked the Bihar assembly yesterday.

"We do believe that child labour is wrong," Prasad said, adding "Those people under whose regime these kind of incidents are taking place should resign."

Bihar's labour department has already ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, commenting on the BJP's decision to nominate opposition leader L K Advani as its future prime ministerial candidate, Prasad said: "The post of Prime Minister is not in his (Advani) stars."
