State level Hockey Championship underway

Bhopal, Dec 11: State Level Hockey Championship has been allocated by the Higher Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh for the session 2007-08. The state level hockey championship is being organised under the aegis of Jawaharlal Nehru Postgraduate College from December 10 to 12 at SAI (Sports Authority of India) Sports Ground, near Mayur Park.

In the second day of the hockey championship, the match was played between Indore and Ujjain Division and the team of Indore defeated Ujjain team by 4-0 goals. Juber and Tyagi of Indore team scored 3 and 1 goal respectively and won the match. The first semi final match was played between Bhopal and Rewa Dision and the team of Bhopal defeated Rewa team by 5-0 goals. Abhishek, Nadima and Inam of Bhopal team scored 3, 1-1 goals respectively and won the match.

The chief guest of the match was Dr Ms Shobhana Vajpayee, Principal of Sarojini Naidu Government Girls Postgraduate College took introduction from the players. Another semifinal match was played between Jabalpur and Indore Division. The chief guest of the match was Dr Sanjay Tiwari, Registrar of Barkatullah University, Bhopal and he took introduction from the players. Jablapur team defeated Indore team by 3-1 goals, Ramkamal Yadav and Nikki Rajak of Jabalpur team scored 2 and 1 goal respectively. While Yogendra Tyagi of Indore team scored 1 goal.

The final match would be played between Bhopal and Jabalpur Division on December 12 at 3 pm at SAI Sports Ground. Governor of Madhya Pradesh Dr Balram Jakhar will be the chief guest of the match and the prizes would be distributed among the winner and sub winner team by Dr Jakhar. The senior Hockey Players of the city would be felicitated on this occasion.
