Van Mela attracts youths in large number

Bhopal, Dec 11: Generally most of the people do not take interest in herbal medicines. But the Rashtriya Van Mela-2007 being organised under the aegis of Madhya Pradesh Small Forest Producers Cooperative Society from December 11 to 16 at Dussehra Maidan, Bittan Market seems to have attracted the attention of Bhopalites, especially who are taking keen interest in herbal medicines. Total 280 stalls have been installed for herbal medicines and other forest products in the Mela.

Stalls of handicraft, books and several forest products of Madhya Pradesh and seven other states of the country have been installed. Stall of bamboo products have been installed by the District Small Forest Producers Cooperative Society, Sehore and several items are being exhibited in the Mela, which have been made of bamboo. Apart from this, bamboo-made furniture is being also exhibited here.

Generally, majority of urban residents does not believe in Indian systems of and therefore do not take interest in herbal medicines. But to the happiness of the organisers more than expected people visited the Mela on the opening day on Tuesday. Their response and purchases made by them have boosted the morale of the participats who have erected stalls here.

Neelam, who visited the Mela said that although we did not visit whole Mela but saw various attractive items and purchased some herbal products. I am very glad to have visited the Mela and we will come again with our friends.

Gangesh said that I am very glad to visit the Mela. Awareness can be increased among the people about the forest and forest products, herbal products etc through such kind of events. People could get various informations about herbal products and its advantage.

Govind said that I am very glad to reach the Rashtriya Van Mela, such an important event is being organised at Bittan Market again this year. I have also visited the stall, who has been installed for the herbal products from Satna district. Various herbal medicines and forest products are available at the stall.
