Tight security for Khargone, Sanver bypolls

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, Dec 11: Polling for the byelection in Khargone Lok Sabha and Sanver Assembly constituencies in western Madhya Pradesh will be held tomorrow amid tight security arrangements. Polling parties have already reached the booths, where security personnel have been deployed to ensure free and fair election, official sources said today.

In both constituencies, the main contest is between BJP and Congress, while presence of Bhartiya Janshakti candidate made it triangular. Eleven candidates each were in the fray. Khargone seat fell vacant following disqualification of Krishna Murari Moghe (BJP) on the office of profit issue, while state BJP minister Prakash Sonkar's death caused the bypoll in Sanver in Indore district.

Moghe is again in the fray in Khargone, where MPCC chief Subhash Yadav's son Arun Yadav is Congress nominee along with Sanjay Jhanwar of BJ. 12.91 lakh electorates are scheduled to exercise their franchise in 1262 booths including 250 declared as sensitive.

In Sanver constituency, Tulsi Silawat(Cong), Santosh Malaviya(BJP) and Ranjit Sonkar (BJ) are prominent contestants. Nearly 1.75 lakh electorate are listed to exercise their franchise in 187 booths.
