Bhopal, Dec 11:
In the wake of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's wife Sadhna Singh being given a clean chit in the dumpers' purchase case, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax MK Moghe claimed that there was no pressure on him. ''There is no pressure from New Delhi or anywhere else. Clean chit is provided on the basis of merits of a case,'' Moghe said here on Monday. He explained that the Income Tax (IT) Department took action as per the law.
The department found no irregularity in the IT return submitted by Ms Singh. Investigation of the return submitted by Chouhan was in the last phase and, prima facie, no irregularity was found. On disproportionate assets worth several crores of rupees being unearthed during raids at the premises of the then Health Director Yogiraj Sharma and several business offices, Moghe said that investigation was underway in these cases. The procedure might take some time.
He added that the procedure of submitting IT returns by companies has gone online. However, it would take some time in individuals' cases.
