Modi justifies Sohrab killing

Just days before Gujarat goes to polls, Chief Minister Narendra Modi has played the communal card again. He has justified the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in an encounter for which some senior police officials are facing trial.
 
Bachchans face DRI tax notice 

Mumbai, Dec 5:
Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek, who walked through the green channel at Sahar airport in April with imported dutiable goods worth Rs 1 crore without paying duty, are likely to face a showcause notice from DRI for alleged violation of the Customs Act, customs officials said.
 
5 half-burnt bodies found near Nandigram  

Kolkata, Dec 5:
Five mutilated and half-burnt bodies were found today buried in a trench in a field at Bidyapith village in the CPI(M) stronghold of Khejuri, adjacent to Nandigram in West Bengal.
 
RBI policy to hit economy growth  

Mumbai, Dec 5:
The Reserve Bank's tight monetary policy is expected to moderate India's economic growth rate to 8.1-8.6 per cent in 2008, against 8.5-9 per cent in 2007, Global rating agency Standard and Poor's said on Wednesday.
 
Jet crew held for trafficking 

Mumbai, Dec 5:
At least 72 air hostesses from various airlines have come under the scanner of the Mumbai police and the directorate of civil aviation after the crime branch busted a human trafficking racket and arrested five persons, including a Jet Airways air hostess.
