Bali, Indonesia is hosting a two weeks UN-led talks where about 10,000 conferees, activists and journalists from 190 countries are expected to gather to find ways how the available technology of the world can be utilized to slow down global warming, as fast as possible. The villain of the piece of Kyoto Protocol, signed about a decade ago, where nearly 36 industrial nations were required to reduce carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gasses emitted by power plants, industrial, agricultural and transportation sources, was mainly the United States which in fact, did not ratify the Kyoto Protocol, arguing that mandatory cuts in emissions would harm the economy. Moreover, they even questioned the veracity of global warming science.

It is quite unfortunate that for the US, their economy is superior to even the question of survival of humanity. It is not that the US is unaware of the lethal impact of global warming. The US is predominantly a Christian country. The present President of the US is reported to be a Baptist, believer in God Almighty. He starts his day by reading the Holy Bible and also interacts with men of God quite often. Famous evangelist like Billy Graham is the guiding light for the US ruling hierarchy, right from its President. As such, the USA's consideration of their economy above humanity's survival itself is arbitrary and questionable. Any lay person, having scant knowledge of the Word of God can understand pretty well that the question of global warming, being so seriously discussed these days with utmost urgency, is an Old Testament warning of the Almighty God. I would urge my readers, if they can pick up the Holy Bible and read the last book of the OT "the Book of Malachi, in which its Chapter 4 starts this way `Surely the day is coming', it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire, says the Lord Almighty, `not a root or a branch will be left to them. Prophet Malachi wrote this prophesy around 430 BC. For millenniums since then, people were perhaps not giving any thought to such prophetic warnings. This is the real problem of this world. Even custodians of the Holy Book disregard and disrespect the facts that emerge as literally as contained in the Book. The Catholic Church did the same mistake to Galileo in 14th century. This, in fact, is the irony of the world. That is the reason rationalists and evolutionists take moral courage as people who are supposed to know the truth deny the truth. That was the mistake the Jewish hierarchy too did when the `Word' that was with them (OT) became `flesh' and lived in their midst, they could neither identify it nor honour it. On the contrary, they mocked, humiliated and finally crucified the Truth.

Nature reflects phenomena like melting ice-caps, surging sea level, internecine hurricanes, (Katrina fame) and the like calamities later hit at Oman and the latest one in Bangladesh, where over 10,000 have perished with devastations running into crores. As such, if men in authority, being worst defaulters of Carbon emissions like the US and other advanced countries, give economy the precedence over survival of humanity, then one can only compare their hearts with that of the heart of the Pharaoh of Egypt during Moses days. They must be aware that their hard-heartedness can only invite more catastrophes to the world where the end result would be deliverance of God's people.
