Aiyar's Panchayat rally called off

| New Delhi, Dec 1:
The mammoth Panchayat rally that Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar was planning between December 21- 24 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Panchayati Raj institution has been cancelled. It was a huge relief for Delhi though a big disappointment for the Union Minister. The minister has failed to get a cabinet nod for his budget, which he was forced to trim down several times.
The rally would have proved to be a logistical nightmare for the Delhi Government with more than a lakh of people converging in the capital.
The official reason given, however, is the harsh winter chill in the capital.
