International Handicapped Day on Dec 3

Bhopal, Dec 1: State-level programmes would be held for the physically challenged children on the occasion of International Handicapped Day, which falls on December 3. This information was given by Panchayat and Social Justice Department Commissioner M Mohan Rao during a meeting with representatives of non-government organisations which was convened to discuss the organisation of the coming programme.

Under the scheme, an awareness rally of physically challenged persons would be taken out from 9 am on the occasion of International Handicapped Day on December 3. The rally would commence from Roshanpura crossing and reach TT Nagar Community Hall after vending its way through Apex Bank and police station.

After the rally an exhibition of work of arts made by the physically challenged persons would be held at 11 am. Later at 11.30 am, the state-level International Handicapped Day programmes would begin Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalay. The programme would be participated by the winners of Special Olympics including Gold Medallist in race and fourth in basketball contest Aziz Khan, trainer Ehtesham and CM Choudhary. All the three would be felicitated on the occasion. The physically challenged children from Bhopal, Jabalpur and Indore would also present cultural programmes. At the conclusion of the programme, the physically challenged children would be taken on the tour of Manav Sangrahalay.

Rehabilitation exhibition on Dec 3

Composite Regional Centre for Persons with Disabilities (CRE-Bhopal) located at Khajurikalan near Old SOS Village is going to organise "Rehabilitation Exhibition" and other programmes on December 3 from 10 am 5 pm at its premises. All the general public, school children and enthusiasts in the field of rehabilitation for persons with disabilities can avail the opportunity of visiting this centre on the day with free entry fee for viewing the activities of the centre and rehabilitation exhibition consisting of aids and appliances for persons with disabilities.

Programmes for disabled held

In order to observe the World Disabled Day on December 3, the office of the Commissioner, Disabled Persons, Madhya Pradesh organised various programmes for the physically challenged persons the other day. The programme was inaugurated by Deepankar Banerjee, Commissioner for Disabled Persons, who was the chief guest of the function, at TT Nagar.

In the programme, solo singing, solo dance, group dance, painting and mimicry competitions were held which were attended by mentally, hearing, physically and visually impaired children of various age groups.
