Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has said that keeping in view the all-round welfare and development of tribals, young tribal boys and girls should be given job-oriented training apart from imparting them education so that they could get better employment opportunities. He said that job-oriented schemes should be immediately started. Kunwar Shah was addressing a departmental review meeting of district officials. He instructed the officers to take special interest in the education to tribals and make renewed efforts for imparting them job-oriented training. The directorates undertakings whose performance was reviewed include Tribal Development, Tribal Regional Development Scheme, MAPSAT, Vanya, Entrepreneur Development.
The departmental officer present on the occasion included Tribal Welfare Principal Secretary OP Rawat, Tribal Welfare Commissioner Jaydeep Govind, Director Tribal Regional Schemes Ms Laxmi Arun Shami and Vanya Prakashan managing director Shriram Tiwari.
Kunwar Vijay Shah said apart from imparting them education, tribals should also be included in job-oriented programme. He said that the department's responsibilities are not confined to education but encompass tribals all round development. The tribal youths must be imparted modern and contemporary job-oriented training so that they can get better employment opportunities. Reviewing the performance of MAPSAT, Kunwar Vijay Shah said that at least one lakh tribal girls and boys should be provided employment after giving them vocational training. The Tribal Welfare Minister stressed the need to discover such new areas, which could ensure immediate employment.
Principal Secretary OP Rawat said efforts should be undertaken at every level to convey the actual benefits of these schemes to tribal youths. He said that the effect of these schemes should be visible at the grass root level also.
Tribal Welfare Commissioner Jaydeep Govind informed the meeting about the departmental activities in detail. He said that vocational training is indeed imperative so that tribal students can get more employment opportunities.
