Bhopal, Nov 20: Underworld don Abu Salem was on Tuesday sent to judicial remand for 15 days in a fake passport case by a local court which also granted permission to escort him to Mumbai for further hearing in the bomb blasts case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajaya Shrivastava sent Salem, whose police remand ended on Tuesday morning, to judicial custody for 15 days, but granted permission to escort him to Arthur Road jail for TADA court hearing into the Mumbai bomb blasts case.

Fixing the next date of hearing on December 5, Shrivastava issued directives to produce Salem before his court when Bhopal police moves a charge-sheet against him in the fake passport case.

While replying to Shrivastava during the hearing, Salem claimed that he did not face "any inconvenience" during the police remand and expressed confidence in his lawyers.

His counsel Mohd Rashid and P C Vedi told reporters outside the court that Salem's mother had passed away recently and he wishes to attend a ritual performed on 40th day of her demise at Ajamgarh in Uttar Pradesh on November 24
