Contempt notice on Katni SP

Jabalpur, Sept 14: The Madhya Pradesh High Court directed to issue show cause notice to the Superintendent of POlice, Katni, asking why contempt proceedings cannot be initiated against him for non compliance of Court orders for execution of bailable warrant against an erring advocate inspite of personal assurance? The Court also issued fresh bailable warrant against the Katni-based advocate accused of contempt of Court proceedings.

The bench of Justice KK Lahoti, while hearing the suo motto petition taking cognisance against an advocate some ten years back, directed the SP to execute the fresh bailable warrant against the accused advocate and file his reply in the matter of show cause notice issued in his before the next date of hearing fixed on October 15.

In the matter Court took cognisance against a practicing advocate Prem Kumar Atloori for the allegations made during the hearing of a case for partiality made during the hearing of a case for partiality and prejudice attitude in January 7, 1998 and Justice RS Garg issued contempt notice against the erring advocate. Inspite of repeated chances awarded by the Court to Atloori, he did not filed his reply not appeared before the Court in the matter of contempt proceedings initiated against him for his alleged remarks against the Court and arbitrary demand to transfer the hearing of his client SK Mishra's petition to another Court without any justification, for which a bailable warrant against him was issued by the Court. During the hearing of contempt proceedings, the SP was personally present before the Court on June, 2006 and assured the Court to execute the bailable warrant against the advocate but did not act as per his reply and entrusted the job of service of warrant to Atloori to a Town Inspector of the department and informed the Court about the same.

Taking the matter as serious on the part of SP, for non-compliance of the Court orders and execution of bailable warrant against an advocate pending since 1998, the issued contempt notice against the Superintendent of Police.
