Fascinating Dhoni

Bhopal Today Team

Bhopal, Sept 14: Today in Cricket world Mahendra Singh Dhoni is most dashing and fascinating name. As he is Wicket- keeper cum batsman. But mostly Dhoni (Mahi) is in news due to his batting style and a run scorer. Recently cynosure Mahi was for his Wicket Keeping in the Leeds of 5th one-day match played between India and England. In this particular match, he not only completed his century of wickets but also equals the world record of getting six batsmen out by his hand. His five catches behind the stump caused batsmen to back to pavilion, and one stump by him, made Dhoni to equals the world record of Adam Gilchrist (Australia), Alleck Stuart (England), Radel Jacob (West Indies), and Mark Boucher (South Africa). Adam Gilchrist has made world record of six wickets, first time in 2000 playing against South Africa, in which he sent back six players pavilion and continue his record for four times.

Conversely, Allec Stuart of England too took six catches behind the stump playing against Zimbabwe in July 13, 2000 equals the record of Gilchrist. Too was the story of records of Ridaley Jacob (West Indies), who took five catches and one stump out against Sri Lanka in 2001. Gilchrist was successful in bagging six wickets in a match played against England in 2003 and Sri Lanka. As Mark Boucher of South Africa too was counted in a series of best wicket keeper ever played but delayed in forming world record and finally success touch his foot and got six wicket in 2007 against Pakistan.

Today same is the condition with Dhoni who is termed as a fine and good wicket keeper but record was perhaps waiting for right time. Previously Mahi was succeeded in bagging five wickets in a match in 2004 against Bangladesh. Only Dhoni was not in the list of getting five wickets but before him five more Indian wicket keepers were succeeded seven times in getting five players out. Nayan Mongia was fortunate in bagging five wickets, two times. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's hundredth victim was Ovesh Shah.
