BJYM youth parliaments in MP

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, Sept 14: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's Madhya Pradesh unit will conduct youth parliaments at all district headquarters on September 24 on the unit's policy vis-a-vis youth. ''The documents produced at these parliaments will form the basis for a Youth Parliament scheduled here next month. The Parliament's conclusions will be forwarded to the state government and the latter urged to include them in its youth policy,'' BJYM state President Vishwas Sarang told reporters here today.

Special attenton was being paid to ensure 50 and 33 per cent participation by rural young men and women respectively, he added. ''Unfortunately, in the absence of any concrete policy for overall development of the country's youth, the sports policy is also considered the youth policy,'' said Sarang while adding that the BJYM believed that all-round development would not be possible merely through this policy but talent must be dovetailed with professionalism and practicality.

Quoting a national commission's report on the unorganised sector's workers, he said that 70 per cent rural youth were not receiving the desired benefit of government schemes. The country's population comprises 58 per cent youth. The Parliament would discuss various points including youths' expectation from a youth policy, a useful strategy for skill development, suggestions for an employment-oriented education system, the government's role on the development of the younger generation and their contribution to enriching culture and heritage, Sarang added.
