Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Keeping up the Montfortian tradition of providing a platform for honing communicative skills of young mind the 10th Montfort Cup Inter School Debate Competition was held in the Bhopal Montfort campus itself.
The art of asking questions and not setting down before finding the most satisfactory answer is the sign of ignited mind,and healthy debating can definitelyget to conclusions.
Immense enthusiasm was shown by all the 17 reputed schools impart of Bhopal. Topic for the debate was “Gadgets are hijacking our common sense”.
Programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the school Principal Rev. Brother Monachan K.K. and the Judges Dr. Rama Phani, Professor Christ College and Smt. Snigdha Samuel (owner Samuel classes). They were also accompanied by the Co-ordinators Sr. Anlit, Sr. Nikita and Mrs. JyotiVibin Nair. The judges patiently heard that participants had to say and interrogated them.
All the students presented their views about the topic and they along with the audience got a more vivid picture about it.The winners of the event were,Best speaker (For) is Zubia Khan (Carmel Convent BHEL),Siddhant Roy (SPS Saket Nagar) and Best Speaker (Against) is Kashish Jamaal (St. Joseph Co.Ed.) Trisha Pathak (Carmel Convent BHEL).
Overall trophy for the best school was handed over to Carmel Convent BHEL.Trophies were handed over by the Principal of the school Rev. Brother Monachan. He appreciated all the schools and the students for being the part of this inter school debate competition.
Judges in their speech also appreciated the student’s views and way of presentation as well as they also congratulated the school for organizing such competitions on large scale.The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the school Head Boy ArjunSarkar.
